Club Assist was founded in 1991 by brothers Stuart and Brett Davies in Dandenong, Australia. In 1989, the brothers managed their family battery replacement business and discovered an untapped niche in automotive services. At that time, no roadside assistance organizations offered services other than a jump for a dead battery, which only temporarily resolved the problem. Vehicle owners would have to visit a local repair shop to have the battery replaced. Seeing an enormous opportunity, the Davies brothers began an 18-month study, researching data on roadside emergency calls from members of the Royal Automotive Club of Victoria (RACV). The study revealed dead batteries as the most common reason for roadside assistance calls. They presented their findings to RACV, along with a revolutionary solution that would redefine roadside assistance by providing battery replacement at the roadside. RACV agreed to become the very first partner of the newly born Club Assist.

By 2000, Club Assist’s fully integrated roadside service solution helped create partnerships with National Roads and Motorists Association (NRMA), Royal Automotive Club of Western Australia, and RAC New Zealand. Club Assist migrated across the world in 2001 to partner with the American Automobile Association (AAA) in the United States and the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) in Canada. Today, Club Assist supports its motoring club partners in serving more than 66 million Members worldwide. In the US, Club Assist is proud to share joint venture partnerships with several AAA Clubs and to have been the Preferred Supplier for the AAA/CAA Mobile Battery Service Program for more than 20 years.
